The spreader bar is the bar at the end of the hammock, usually made of wood, which holds it open. It makes it easier to get in and out of your hammock and a spreader bar hammock looks great when not in use. The spreader bars are usually made of hardwood that is finished with a product, such as a marine varnish, to provide long lasting durability.
Spreader bar hammocks are great for an afternoon siesta and come in a variety of styles. They can be constructed of rope (either cotton or polyester) which provide a cooling effect because of the airflow through it, or fabric (also made of cotton and polyester) which come in a wide range of designs, and are also available in quilted styles for extra comfort and warmth.
